DISTINGUISHED TEACHERS IN THE ARTS

The NFAA
Distinguished Teachers in the Arts Program

The NFAA Distinguished Teachers in the Arts program has been highly respected for recognizing outstanding high school teachers in the arts since its inception in 1991.

The selection process is what makes the awards unique. The teachers are selected by their students, both past and present. Each youngARTS applicant provides NFAA with the names of two teachers who have had the most profound influence on their artistic development. These teachers take an active role, devoting their personal time and energy, often above and beyond the call of duty, to encourage and shape the artistic development of their students.

Once the youngARTS Finalists have been selected by our adjudicators, NFAA selects two teachers who have been nominated by the current year's applicants/participants. These two teachers are then invited all expenses paid to attend youngARTS Week held in Miami, Florida. Additionally, each teacher is awarded a $1,000 Distinguished Teacher stipend at the youngARTS Gala.
