"For me, youngARTS Week has decreased the gap that superficially exists between all kinds of art, and showed me that it is ultimately a passion that expresses individuality. "

WRITING
We consider five categories within writing. The writing panelists select up to 20 youngARTS Week Finalists in any combination of categories. They also determine an unlimited number of Honorable Mention and Merit awards.

Requirements

Requirements vary for each category. Please go to the requirements for your category (at left) and review the specific requirements carefully before registering for the youngARTS program.

Mailing Requirements

Please review the mailing requirements carefully – they are different for each discipline, and failure to follow the instructions can result in disqualification.

Evaluation Criteria
The panelists consider language, originality, imagination, and overall excellence.

What Panelists Look For
“Artists who aren't just good mimics, but who are gutsy enough to pursue their own vibrant and original voices.”

"The panel is looking for an authentic voice, a fresh perspective, and a deft sense of craft. We are looking for simplicity as well as bravura."
